The Holiday Season

Wilson thoroughly enjoyed his first Thanksgiving in New York at Mima's and Grandpa's. The only downside is that his Pop visited the ER early that Thursday morning only to find out he had shingles and couldn't come celebrate with him. Wilson dined on turkey and sweet potatoes (the Gerber variety), but also sampled cranberry sauce, apple cider, and apple pie. He had a lot of fun playing with his cousins and chasing the cats.
Last weekend we cut down our Christmas tree and although the 50 degree temperatures suited Wilson and Mommy just fine, Daddy would have rather done the deed yesterday when there was snow on the ground! Wilson liked the tractor ride down to the field, talking to the horses, and watching the billy goats butt heads. I do not think he liked the tree when it was first in the living room as he would glance at it and then fuss. But ever since the lights were put on he has been fascinated and can't turn away. He is also quite fond of staring out the window at our neighbor's yard and all the lights in it (a little gaudy, but appealing to the young one).

We are very excited for Christmas this year and it's even more fun having Wilson around to share all the anticipation with. I vividly remember last year impatiently awaiting his arrival. I would have enjoyed the month a lot more had I known he was going to arrive so late! We took Wilson to the mall on Saturday to have his picture taken with Santa. Dave and I were convinced that this would go smoothly as Wilson will go to anyone and everyone. We should have paid more attention to the warnings of Mima and Pop - the experienced parents. Wilson began crying (with tears - never happens!) the moment we set him on Santa's lap and would not relent. Every time he looked back up at Santa's face he began to cry even harder. He would not go back in his stroller after that and I had to carry him through the remainder of our shopping trip. At least we have a story to tell him when he's older and we didn't have to dish out $16.99 for a 5x7.

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.
