Terrific Twos

So we're a little behind on updating this blog. Between all of us being constantly ill this winter, and Wilson turning away every time a camera is pointed at him, it just hasn't been a priority and there hasn't been adequate material to post!

But, we're now in 2011, we are officially the parents of a 2-year-old, we're about 9 weeks from welcoming our daughter into the world, and one of us is well enough to share, even though the boys are both sick. So it goes.

I won't backtrack to Christmas or Wilson's birthday, but if you want to see pictures you can check out albums at the link below.

We have had way more than our fair share of snow this winter which has already resulted in 5 snow days for my school. There has been so much that Wilson doesn't even want to go out and play because he can't move in it when he's up to his waist or it's over his head. He does enjoy helping Daddy shovel and going sledding down our hilly road in the middle of a storm. And the most motivating factor is making hot cocoa when he comes back inside. He now knows to ask for both marshmallows and whipped cream!

Wilson is fiercely independent, and we try to foster that and cater to it as much as possible. Most of the time it's nice that he wants to help out with everything, including cleaning and cooking. He loves to talk to anyone who happens to call on the phone, and Skype with his Grandma and Pop. If you come visit us he will not forget your name, but instead talk about you incessantly. He is an expert at assembling train tracks and puzzles. He lives for his weekly My Gym class, and spends every day rehearsing the songs and motions and practicing yelling out his name for when it's his turn. He's had his uppercase letters and colors mastered for sometime, but now he's working on lowercase letters and numbers. We realized he really can't read anything without knowing the lowercase letters, as not everything is printed in caps! Oh well. He refers to the little letters as "baby a, baby b" and so on. It's pretty cute. It's very fun that he can talk and carry on a conversation now, and wonderful that he can tell us exactly what he wants. Wilson seems excited to have a little sister on the way, and often pats my tummy while saying, "Hi, Sis." (The part where he thought he had a baby in his belly lasted only briefly!)

We are SO looking forward to spring, to being healthy, and to our family growing. Hopefully we'll (I'll) be better about updating this site!
