Dewey, named for former Red Sox player Dwight "Dewey" Evans, was born via c-section on August 19, 2003 at Howe’s Cave Animal Hospital in Howe’s Cave, New York. His mother, a ferral cat caught in a hunter’s trap, was brought to the vet’s office by the hunter, and delivered three kittens, two of whom survived. Dewey was adopted, along with his sister Millie, two months later during Columbus Day weekend. Dewey was best known for his love of smelly shoes, broccoli, cheese, dripping faucets, scratching tall speakers, box springs and ottomans, licking Dave’s head, and warmly greeting everyone who came to the door. Dewey will be missed for his endless love and affection, kneading of stomachs, trotting from room to room, and ability to purr on the spot. He is loved and survived by his sister Millie, along with his adoptive parents Sheila and Dave.
