We finally got around to cutting down our tree this year. We tried a new place, up north, at the suggestion of Adam and Julie, and really lucked out. We took a tractor ride down into the fields (it was so bumpy I thought I might go into labor!), and we picked out our tree in a matter of minutes. It had a very thick trunk, so it took Dave a while to saw it down. After we dragged it back to the road, we picked up the horse-drawn ride back to the main house. They bound our tree and we were able to stick it in the back of the truck and didn't even have to wrestle with affixing it to the roof. After we enjoyed our free hot chocolate, we drove back home to start decorating. We are still a long way from being finished, but at least it's a start. Millie is happy to have the tree to sleep beneath. We missed having Dewey's help as we hung our ornaments. He would not be too happy with our new tree stand, as there's no way for cats to drink the water out of it!
