We have just returned from spending a week in Maine at the Callahan Compound with my friends from college. I have never spent such a long time in Maine with such great weather. I can actually say it was too hot! We had gorgeous, sunny days for almost the entire week. I haven't been in the ocean since I was a child, but it was easy to get in past my knees in order to cool off. We had a fabulous time relaxing, eating and drinking. The boys went on a fishing expedition and caught a striped bass which they then grilled for dinner. The girls went to the wine bar and had a chance to talk about stuff other than babies! The kids had great fun playing together on the floor and sharing toys and smiles. Wilson enjoyed his first dip in the ocean. We hadn't planned on going to the beach so he and I were unprepared in terms of swimsuits, but he loved getting his feet wet and the water was probably too cold for him to do much more than that. He loved watching the waves and the other kids. Hopefully we'll get him back to the beach this week before our summer is over. Only six more days until I return to work. Not good. :( I have never eaten lobster or cracked one open myself, but I was able to help Chrissy retrieve the meat from her tail. I guess all those years of watching other people eat them was worth it! We look forward to seeing our Alfred friends again for New Year's Eve.
