6th Generation???

Last night Dave was honored at a statewide fire service recognition ceremony for his work at a fire in the city last year. Prior to the start of the award presentation, I was getting Wilson settled in the Bjorn and Dave was getting situated in all the parts of his uniform. Wilson always attracts lots of attention when we're out in public, but usually that comes in the form of older ladies or young children. Never before has he enticed a prominent politician. Governor Lynch came over to greet us (Wilson) and we had quite a lengthy conversation. In states like New York, I'm sure D-Pat travels with security and an entourage (not just because of his visual impairment), but in New Hampshire (even with all the crazy libertarians), John Lynch goes solo - actually he was accompanied by a young female who appeared to be his assistant. We've met him before at various events so we weren't surprised by this. But I digress - back to the story. We talked about the tragedy in my school district and how he plans to come visit next week, and then he questioned if Wilson was going to be a firefighter. Dave mentioned that if that were to happen, he would be the 6th generation of firefighters in Dave's family. Gov. Lynch was so impressed by that idea that he jotted down Wilson's full name and age and then referred to Wilson in the remarks he gave at the start of the ceremony. Not even 9 months old yet and already being recognized by the most powerful Democrat in the state. I love it! And we're really proud of Daddy too.
