Last weekend we checked out a new apple orchard as our regular place is too close to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway and NASCAR was in town. We wanted to stay as far away as possible! So, we went south to Massachusetts and a very cool place called Parlee Farms. They have pick-your-own everything there, including apples, pumpkins, berries, flowers, etc. We started by sampling their apple crisp, frozen apple cider, and mini apple cider donuts. With sufficient energy, we moved on to the animals. Wilson LOVED feeding the goats out of his hand, and squealed when their tongues licked his little palms. He thought it was the funniest thing ever. After checking out the rabbits and sheep, we took a hay ride down to the apple orchards. Wilson was in awe of the huge John Deere tractors pulling the wagons. "Woah!" is one of his favorite expressions. Wilson was a pro at picking and eating apples. He had to use both of his tiny hands to get an apple off the tree, and with all the force he had to exert his tugging usually resulted in him getting the apple loose but falling on his bottom in the process!
This past weekend we spent Saturday in Boston with Grandma and Pop. We had lots of fun at the Boston Children's Museum. Wilson was so worn out after a few hours that he began stumbling and having trouble staying upright. He was thus granted a much-needed nap in the stroller which provided him enough energy to take on a gigantic M&M cookie that we found in a North End bakery. We topped off the night by celebrating his friend Leighton's 1st birthday and Wilson had lots of fun playing with all her new toys! We enjoyed a yummy brunch Sunday with friends prior to our 2nd Annual Pumpkin Picking outing. Wilson had lots of fun with the big girls feeding the goats and watching the doves, rabbits and peacocks. Unfortunately he went out of his way to track down rabbit poop. Thank goodness for hand sanitizer! He really enjoyed the hay ride down to the pumpkin fields and had a great time seeing how many pumpkins he could pick up. I think he was challenging himself to lift a heavier/bigger one each time. This year was much more fun because he wasn't just sitting in the dirt trying to eat leaves. He also got to take home a little pumpkin for himself. Maybe next year we'll let him pick out a big one!
