6 months old!

Wilson hit this big milestone last week, but we've been too lazy to write an update! After two weeks of traveling, we're enjoying being home and taking it easy. We were all in Maine with the Callahan family for Fourth of July. Wilson attended his first parade. He was fascinated by all the people walking by, and really liked the bagpipes. However, he was not too thrilled with the fire truck sirens or the musket firings, so there was some crying. We ended up trying to cover his ears in anticipation of these events, which sometimes helped. Because of this, we decided not to go to the fireworks that night! The weather was gorgeous all weekend, and we had a really nice time on the coast. When we got home, we started Will on vegetables. He seems to like carrots, but is probably just grateful to have something other than rice cereal or oatmeal to eat. We also started putting him to sleep without swaddling his arms in the Miracle Blanket, like we have been doing since he was born. He has always liked this and been comforted by it, and would never go to sleep the times we tried to put him down without it, but he's getting too big and it's too hot to keep swaddling him! He actually adjusted much better than we expected, although his naps were reduced to only 30 minutes for the first two days! He's not quite sure what to think of this new-found freedom. Sleep time is more like play time for him now. He rolls and spins all around, sometimes getting stuck on his stomach with his legs through the bars, needing us to go up and rescue him. It's funny and frustrating at the same time. Yesterday we went to a park in the city that has a track, pool, playground, pond and nature trails. Wilson loved watching all the other little kids. He also liked swinging by himself in the kiddie swings, but not so much with Dad, as you can see from the pictures. We go to the doctor tomorrow for his 6 month check-up. I can't wait to find out how much he weighs and how long he is. I am not, however, looking forward to witnessing the shots for the first time. I think Daddy will have to hold my hand as well!
