"Bruiser"

The child formerly known as "Buster" has recently earned himself the new nickname "Bruiser." Beginning about two weeks ago he has continually sported bruises in various shades of black, green, red, brown, and purple on his forehead. He acquires, on average, one each day. The bruised swelling typically appears within seconds, and the crying usually doesn't last much longer than that. The worst episode, by far, occurred at the playground this afternoon. As evidenced in the center of Bruiser's forehead in the above photo, he went headfirst into a vertically textured piece of the structure. Dave and I were unsure what part of him hit until we picked him up and pulled his hat off. It was quite clear when we looked at his face. Poor guy! At first I worried about what other people thought when I took him out in public, but so many mothers have come up to us commenting that their son's forehead looked exactly the same way. Apparently this phase may last awhile. Fingers crossed that no one calls DCYF on us!

OH NO! Wow, that is quite the bruise! See, I told you guys he'd need a middle one to balance out the two sides :)
